Scores of supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party have besieged the premises of the Adum Police station in Kumasi demanding the immediate release of their regional chairman.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, reported himself to the Police today after he was declared wanted for assaulting the NPP MP for Manhyia North Collins Owusu Amankwa and the constituency Secretary of the area, Felix Ibrahim.

The confusion between them was triggered by a disagreement over the ongoing Limited Voters registration exercise.

He is currently being detained at the Central Police station.

The Police issued a warrant for his arrest after he refused to honour an invitation extended to him.
