Korle Bu hospital management fires senior staff president

Date published: Thursday, 7th April 2016

President of the Senior Staff Association of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Charles Ofei-Palm has been sacked.

The decision to dismiss Dr. Palm followed a crucial meeting by management and the Board of Directors of the premier medical facility Wednesday, April 06.

Management of Korle Bu, last week, interdicted Dr Palm days after he granted an interview on an Accra-based radio station and made comments the hospital deemed damaging.

A source close to the administration of the hospital disclosed to Atinka News that a letter communicating Dr. Palm's dismissal is expected to be sent to him on Thursday.

It will be recalled that Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital sanctioned leader of the hospital’s senior staff association over alleged malicious comments on Accra based Class FM.

The hospital management said Dr. Charles Ofei-Palm’s pronouncements constituted "misrepresentation of facts and peddling of falsehood”.

The interdiction letter signed by Korle Bu’s Director of Human Resources, Samuel Akotuah Akweri, said Dr. Palm breached the hospital’s media policy when he touched on sensitive issues during the interview.

“Pronouncements made during the said interview tarnished the image of the Hospital and also brought the name of the Hospital into disrepute,” the letter explained.
