Date published: Thursday, 14th April 2016

The Electricity Company of Ghana's Bulk Supply station at Kumasi in the Ashanti region exploded Thursday evening, leaving parts of the city with no electricity.

The explosion, according to reports, happened at about 5pm.

Public Relations Officer of ECG in the area, Erastus Baidoo, confirmed the explosion to Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor, adding, the cause of the incident was yet to be known.

According to him, the earth reactor, cables and other key materials, which supplied electricity to the area had all been completely burnt.

Meanwhile, the fire, which accompanied the explosion, has been completely doused, paving way for immediate investigations to be carried out.

Mr. Baidoo assured residents that his outfit would be working frantically to make sure that power supply was restored to them.

Adding that, they would be liaising with their branches in Accra to see how best they could help remedy the situation.
